On a gorgeous spring evening in Yaletown, the timeless elegance of Brix & Mortar set the stage for Roots & Resilience, an intimate celebration of British Columbia’s wine industry. Guests gathered to honour not only the craft behind the province’s most celebrated vintages but also the unwavering spirit that has carried winemakers through the adversity of recent years.

The evening began with a private reception in the airy courtyard, where guests were welcomed with a glass in hand and the rare opportunity to mingle with the winemakers from five of British Columbia’s most distinguished wineries: Gray Monk Estate WinerySandhill WinesBlack Hills Estate WineryTinhorn Creek Vineyards, and Red Rooster Winery.

Each vintner brought with them not just their wines, but stories of resilience, creativity, and collaboration—reminders of what is possible when a community unites around shared values and a commitment to excellence.

As the reception transitioned into a seated dinner, attendees were treated to a thoughtfully curated menu, with each course artfully paired to highlight the nuanced character of the featured wines. The chefs at Brix & Mortar embraced the same spirit of innovation and reverence for local ingredients that defines B.C. winemaking, resulting in a dining experience that was both elegant and rooted in place.

Throughout the evening, conversation flowed freely between courses and clinking glasses, as winemakers shared insights into their latest vintages and the collective journey that brought them to this moment. Against the backdrop of candlelight and exposed brick, the event underscored the power of connection—between land and table, between vintner and guest, and between resilience and reward.

Roots & Resilience was more than a wine tasting. It was a tribute to the people and places behind each bottle—a celebration of endurance, quality, and the enduring bond between British Columbians and their land.

Now more than ever, the call is clear: let us continue to support B.C.’s wineries and the restaurants that serve them. Every pour tells a story worth preserving—one of passion, perseverance, and pride in our beautiful province.
