For over two decades, 2000 Cigars has been a trusted destination for cigar aficionados in Metropolitan Vancouver. Offering an exceptional selection of Cuban and non-Cuban cigars, this family-owned shop has built a reputation for quality and expertise.
Since June 2020, new ownership has revitalized the store, making it a warm and welcoming space for both beginners and seasoned connoisseurs. Perfectly located at the intersection of Dunsmuir, Howe, and Hornby Streets, Gregory Pinch‘s 2000 Cigars offers a welcoming haven for aficionados in the heart of Vancouver.
A REVITALIZED EXPERIENCE
Following extensive renovations, the store re-opened in August 2020 with an expanded inventory of premium cigars, pipes, and accessories. Whether you are exploring cigars for the first time or have refined tastes, 2000 Cigars offers a curated selection to suit all preferences.
“At 2000 Cigars, we welcome all types of people, from the curious to the connoisseur, and everyone in between,” says Gregory Pinch, co-owner.
OWNERS WITH PASSION
Gregory and his partner, Tatiana, became the third owners of 2000 Cigars in 2020, continuing the legacy of a business established in 1999.
“Cigars have been a passion for me since 1998, and last year I became a Master Habanos Sommelier,” he shares. The partners deep connection to the craft extends beyond retail, as they have experienced the cigar culture firsthand in Havana, Cuba. This knowledge and appreciation for cigars are infused into the store’s selection and customer service, ensuring an authentic and informed experience for every visitor.
A HAVEN FOR AFICIONADOS
Whether you are just beginning to explore cigars or have cultivated a sophisticated palate, 2000 Cigars is a destination where enthusiasts can connect, learn, and indulge.
“When someone is new to the world of cigars, we want their introduction to be informative and fun. We start them off with a light, shorter cigar and guide them through the process of cutting, lighting, and smoking to ensure they enjoy the experience,” Gregory explains. “We find the connoisseur is eager to get our recommendation for their next cigar or advice on pairings with alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks based on their cigar choices.”
YVR’S FIRST HABANOS SOMMELIER
2000 Cigars proudly features Vancouver’s first resident Habanos Sommelier. Having graduated Level 1 from Sociedad Habanosommelier in August 2023, Gregory has undergone an intensive 12-week program covering the history, cultivation, and pairing of cigars with a range of beverages. His expertise is available for cigar events and speaking engagements, offering a deeper understanding of the artistry behind cigars.
DESTINATION FOR CIGAR CULTURE
“Smoking a cigar creates an immediate bond when meeting someone new; it can strengthen an existing friendship or give you a reason to stop and take a moment for yourself,” Gregory reflects.
2000 Cigars continues to be a cornerstone of Vancouver’s cigar scene, blending tradition with modern refinement. With its expert guidance, curated selection, and commitment to the cigar lifestyle, this family-owned shop remains an essential stop for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
