Tucked along the border of Garraf Park on a secluded 2,000-square-metre property, Casa Brisa stands as an inviting haven for those seeking a tranquil refuge. This intimate boutique guesthouse was envisioned by a gay couple to offer a restorative retreat exclusively for gay men—a place to let go of the demands of city life and rediscover a sense of self amid nature’s calm embrace.
“The moment I walked through the gates of Casa Brisa, I felt like the rest of the world just melted away,” recalls Vancouver-based travel and beauty influencer Jan Van Vianen. “It is the kind of place that immediately wraps you in calm.”
“As a queer man who often travels solo, it can be hard to find places where you feel completely safe and accepted,” Jan adds. “Casa Brisa was that much-needed sanctuary where I could truly be myself without a second thought.”
From the moment a guest steps onto the grounds, the energy feels different. The breeze drifting through the surrounding forest carries with it an almost tangible serenity. Each of Casa Brisa’s individually decorated rooms has been designed to feel like a home away from home, offering superior mattresses, soft linen, and the comfort of heating and cooling. Every space features a separate bathroom, and while the guesthouse promotes a healthy, non-smoking lifestyle, thoughtfully designated garden spots ensure all needs are considered.
Breakfast is a daily highlight, served on the sun-dappled terrace between 8:00 and 10:30 in the morning. Guests can savour fresh, locally sourced produce while looking out over the peaceful grounds.
“Waking up to a fresh continental breakfast on the terrace, with the scent of pine in the air, was the most peaceful way to start each day,” Jan shares.
For those who wish to experience the liberating natural freedom of the property, the 11×5 metre swimming pool is clothing-optional and provides total privacy among lush greenery. Poolside loungers and umbrellas make it easy to spend entire afternoons relaxing in the Mediterranean warmth.
“There is something profoundly liberating about swimming under the Mediterranean sun without a stitch of clothing,” Jan says. “It felt like coming home to myself.”
Beyond the property, the neighbouring region beckons with vibrant experiences. Lively Sitges and the renowned Penedés wine region are just a short drive away, offering picturesque villages characterized by colourful Catalan architecture and welcoming locals. Along the coastline, the LGBTQI-friendly beaches of Playa de la Bassa Rodona, Playa de las Balmins, and Playa del Muerto promise sun-soaked afternoons with an unmistakable sense of freedom and community.
Gastronomy in the region is equally compelling. From inventive fine dining to traditional Catalan dishes, culinary adventures abound. Paired with exceptional cavas and wines from nearby vineyards, every meal becomes an unforgettable celebration of the senses.
“I was blown away by the food—every meal was fresh, local, and beautifully prepared,” says Jan. “Pairing it with Penedés wines turned every dinner into an event.”
Casa Brisa is more than a destination—it is a thoughtfully curated experience where every detail is designed to soothe, inspire, and rejuvenate. For those who dream of escaping into a quiet corner of Spain to simply be, this secluded sanctuary is a place where treasured memories are made.
