What does a toast sound like when the glass has been designed for it? Last week, guests aboard Sip Over Water found out, raising bespoke crystal glasses that each produced a distinct note on impact. Presented by Young Elite Vancouver, Cigar Club Vancouver x SC Manor x Louis XIII Rémy Martin, the private sunset yacht experience paired careful staging with genuine craft, extending even to the resonance of the glassware in guests’ hands.
The evening began at the award-winning Cardero Restaurant on the harbourfront, where a guide led guests through a private dock entrance to an eighty-foot yacht from Yahull Yachts. After welcome Champagne and introductions, the vessel departed, a course charted toward a quiet cove near Belcarra, timed so guests arrived on open water as the sky shifted into evening colour. Onboard, Cigar Club Vancouver curated a selection of premium cigars, in the lounge there was aburi and sashimi and cocktail service, giving guests room to graze and converse throughout.

The centrepiece was a private Louis XIII cognac presentation and tasting on the stern, guided with the formality the cognac house has built its reputation upon. Guests moved about joyfully clinking their crystal together and listening for the reverberation each pairing produced, turning a simple toast into a small performance of its own. Entertainment included a feng shui master offered palm readings, a belly dancer commanded attention with movement, and saxophonist Karla Sax layered live sound over the water as the yacht turned back toward the marina under fading light.

Produced by Liting Chan, with photography by Ting and video by Joyus Production, Sip Over Water reflected a collaboration between Young Elite Vancouver, 中雪庄园, and VA Cigar Club, one where every detail, down to the sound of crystal on crystal, was well planned in advance.
