Inside Holt Renfrew’s private personal shopping space The Apartment, an invitation-only tasting brought together an intimate circle of whisky enthusiasts and media for an experience that transcended the usual notion of a luxury event. Layers of Infinite was more than a tasting—it was a moment in time curated by Bowmore, one of Islay’s most storied distilleries, and elevated by the artistry of Aston Martin.
The Experience Within The Apartment
The evening unfolded with quiet sophistication. Guests were welcomed through the exclusive Bowmore x Holt Renfrew pop-up, where window displays and bespoke activations celebrated the partnership between these two legacy brands. It was a scene steeped in refinement—design meeting flavour, craftsmanship meeting culture.
Within The Apartment, guests gathered around an elegant tasting table as Bowmore’s Global Whisky Ambassador, James Neil, guided them through the brand’s prestige collection. His storytelling was deliberate and detailed, a reminder that whisky, at its finest, is not consumed—it is experienced. The first pour, Bowmore’s 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, delivered a balance of rich caramel, spiced fruit, and the distillery’s signature whisper of peat smoke. The second, the Bowmore x Aston Martin Masters’ Selection 22 Year Old, deepened the mood with its complexity—a marriage of character and elegance that lingered long after the final sip. Each expression was paired with delicate culinary elements designed to highlight the spirit’s depth, texture, and tone.
The Reveal of Arc-54
Then came the unveiling—the rare and final release of the Bowmore x Aston Martin collaboration: The Arc-54. Only ten bottles were allocated to Canada, each valued at $120,000. Every decanter, handblown to mirror the aerodynamics of the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, seemed to hold light itself. Distilled in 1968 and matured for 54 years, the whisky embodied Bowmore’s philosophy of patience and precision. Aged in a 2nd Fill European Oak Sherry Butt and a 3rd Fill American Oak Hogshead, it was a liquid narrative of time—layered, mature, and impossibly graceful.
Guests admired the Arc-54 from a respectful distance, its spun-gold hues glinting beneath soft gallery lighting. Though untasted, its profile was described in evocative detail—an invitation to imagine what only a handful of collectors would ever experience. Those fortunate enough to acquire one of the ten bottles in Canada could expect an extraordinary whisky layered with complexity and grace. On the nose, alluring notes of syrupy vanilla, buttery shortbread, and tropical mango would unfold into accents of orange zest, toasted oak, and candied walnut. The palate, rich with salted caramel and bright citric tones of bergamot and lime, would deepen into spiced ginger and sweet cinnamon before finishing in a long, elegant whisper of Islay peat smoke. It was a sensory portrait of balance—intense yet refined, luxurious yet grounded in heritage—a whisky designed not merely to be consumed, but contemplated.
Where Legacy Meets Luxury
As James Neil spoke of craftsmanship and legacy, it was clear that Layers of Infinite was not just about tasting whisky; it was about witnessing what happens when two worlds—automotive innovation and distilling mastery—collide. The Arc-54 stood as both an artefact and an aspiration, representing not only the culmination of Bowmore’s five-year collaboration with Aston Martin but also a tribute to the art of slowing down and letting excellence reveal itself, layer by layer.
When the final glass was set down, conversation lingered in the air like smoke from a well-aged cask. It was an evening that celebrated time, taste, and timeless design—a moment where every element, from the first pour to the last reflection in the decanter, reminded guests why some experiences cannot be replicated. They can only be savoured.
