Eighty of Vancouver’s most engaged community leaders and philanthropists recently gathered for the inaugural Girls’ Night Out, an evening that raised an extraordinary $260,000 in support of QMUNITY‘s new purpose-built home at 981 Davie Street. Rather than following the format of a traditional gala, the evening unfolded across three curated acts, each one designed to draw guests closer to the cause and to one another.

The proceeds will fund a dedicated Youth Room within QMUNITY’s forthcoming community centre, a space created to give Two-Spirit, queer, and trans young people a place to access support, build community, and connect with peers for generations to come.

Voices of the Evening
The evening was co-hosted by Aleem Kassam and Sid Koshul, with remarks from QMUNITY Executive Director Anoop Gill and community advocate Jacqueline Adler, and was guided throughout by emcee Azadeh Kojouri.
“For many young people, finding a place where they feel safe, seen, and supported can be life-changing,” said Aleem Kassam, founder of Girls Night Out. “This event is about bringing together incredible women to help create that sense of belonging for the next generation.”

A Community of Support
The evening was made possible through the generosity of principal sponsors First Majestic Silver Corp. and Wish Dry Bar, alongside in-kind contributions from DJ Pri, Eduardo Ramos, May 18 Florals, Bespoke Decor, Lagree Parq, TG Jewellers, Georgia Esporlas, Holt Renfrew, and GOH Ballet.

As QMUNITY moves closer to opening its new home, the inaugural Girls’ Night Out stands as an example of what a community can achieve when generosity and shared purpose meet.

Get Involved
The momentum from Girls’ Night Out is only the beginning, and QMUNITY welcomes the wider community to help carry it forward. Whether through volunteering, donating, or offering professional skills in service of the organization’s mission, there are many ways to contribute to a future where every 2SLGBTQIA+ person has a place to belong.
