BC Children’s Hospital Foundation launched its Clinical Trials Super Hub fundraising endeavour in November 2023 to advance medical treatments and promote groundbreaking discoveries across all areas of BC Children’s Hospital by providing children battling severe illnesses with access to the latest medications and treatments closer to home, improving and saving the lives of more children, and offering renewed hope for families who previously had no other options.

A key fundraising event for the Clinical Trials Super Hub, For Children We Care, recently occurred at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver alongside a community of visionary philanthropists. Under the visionary leadership of Co-Chairs Jessica Yan-Macintosh and Katherine Xu (President of Lao Feng Xiang Canada) and a dedicated committee of volunteers, the passionate community of sponsors and donors raised over $2 million for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. On an evening when many gathered to cheer on the Canucks, guests in the room honoured our co-presenting sponsors by giving generously to a cause close to their hearts.

“The Clinical Trials Super Hub has powerfully connected research and care. This initiative has already helped shape the future of child health and has solidified BC Children’s Hospital as a global leader in clinical trials,” said Malcolm Berry, President and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Funds raised to date have helped establish the Super Hub, leading to new therapies, new treatments, and new cures for seriously ill children across BC and the Yukon.”
Since its launch, The Super Hub has made a positive impact on patients and families at BC Children’s by advancing new treatments, establishing a team of dedicated and highly specialized clinical research staff who have the expertise and capacity to drive clinical trials forward, forging deeper connections with clinical care teams to help identify and support specific requirements for every clinical trial; strengthening the integration of research and care; providing leadership and training opportunities for researchers, clinical and non-clinical trainees, and front-line health care staff; and prioritizing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the co-designing and participation of clinical trials.

“We have a bold vision where every child at BC Children’s has access to a clinical trial when it’s needed. Where families searching for hope are given the chance to enroll in experimental therapies. Where kids in BC have access to the most innovative treatment options in the world, right here at BC Children’s. Through the advancement of the Clinical Trials Super Hub, this vision will continue to be a reality,” said Dr. Quynh Doan, Senior Executive Director at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute.
For Children We Care plays a leading role in shaping the future of care by furthering the Clinical Trials Super Hub at BC Children’s Hospital. Since 1995, the For Children We Care community has rallied together with unwavering determination, raising over $33 million to propel world-class care and research at BC Children’s Hospital. This year, For Children We Care has built on this exceptional legacy, playing a role in creating a future where more children receive the world-class care they need to thrive.
