Hey Beauties!
Does the thought of cruising leave you already dreading the post-cruise hangover, the bloating, the low energy, the extra pounds you swore you would not bring home this time? I hear you, and I am here to tell you that a Riverside Luxury Cruise changes that entire equation.
This is not a trip built around free-ranging buffets or piled plates, it is white glove treatment from start to finish, and that same elevated care extends fully to plant-based dining. The experience aboard The Debussy is about excursions, connection to the guests onboard and the communities we docked in along the way, and feeling equally at home once you are back on ship. Eating for this voyage was so easy, and the following five dishes were my favourites from across the entire trip.
The Cheese Platter

Each meal began with a cheese platter with a rotating selection of flavours and textures, camembert and brie, crostini, figs, and walnuts among them. The pairing of coconut and soy based creamy cheeses with the sweetness of fig felt indulgent in the best possible way.
Creamy Cauliflower Soup with Nutritional Yeast

This soup was, quite simply, divine. A creamy cauliflower base finished with nutritional yeast for depth and a savoury edge, topped with golden croutons and fresh herbs. It has quietly become one of my favourite bowls of soup from any trip, land or water.
Cucumber and Zucchini Tartar with Olive Tapenade

This dish was a study in texture and precision, a cucumber and zucchini tartar layered with chopped olive tapenade, finished with a raspberry and balsamic vinaigrette and a scattering of fresh pea sprouts. The plating alone made it one of the most photographed dishes on my table.
The ‘Steak’ with Spicy Beluga Lentils

This thick ‘medium-rare’ steak arrived alongside spicy beluga lentils and a fresh herb salad. Hearty, well-seasoned, and satisfying in exactly the way a plate like this should be, it was proof that dining aboard the Debussy is never an afterthought, whatever your dietary needs.
Aquafaba Meringue with Coconut Caramel Cream

This gorgeous dessert paired an aquafaba meringue with coconut caramel cream and fresh fruit. Light, airy, and quietly clever in its construction, a beautiful finish to a meal is all you need to go into the evening with spring in your step.
An Elevated Send-Off Before Disembarking
Before disembarking, the team sent an elevated selection of plates up to my suite while I finalized packing, a thoughtful gesture that made the final stretch feel just as considered as the rest of the trip. A faux salmon and tuna sashimi selection, deli slices, cheese platter a gooseberry compote, an assortment of salads, and a basket of freshly baked buns rounded out my final morning aboard, right up until it was time to disembark.

So beauties, can we talk about why ocean cruising still gets all the attention? A floating city with three thousand of your closest strangers fighting you for a lounge chair and a dinner reservation is not exactly giving relaxation. Give me a European river cruise any day, where the only crowd I am competing with is myself deciding between a second glass of rosé or an early night.
The Debussy spoiled me rotten as a privately docked home base that made hotel reservations, transfers, and currency chaos completely irrelevant, while my suite stayed exactly as I left it, night after night. A dip in the Natura Bissé world at the spa, a lap in the pool, or a quick sweat in the fitness area kept me feeling as good as I looked, no small feat after a plate of that steak.
And do not even get me started on the excursions, tulip fields one afternoon and street art the next, actual conversations with actual locals rather than a wave from the top deck. Pair that with a kitchen team who treats your dietary needs like a personal mission rather than an inconvenience, and honestly, beauties, the ocean liner does not stand a chance.
Cheers & Ciao!
