Cedar & Bark Photography, founded in 2018 by Deborah Stevenson, is a creative photography business specializing in capturing life’s precious moments and providing luxury-level products such as wall art, gallery collections, and fine art prints. With a strong background in dog training and photography, Deborah has created a business that delivers exceptional pet photography services.

A LIFETIME OF EXPERIENCE

At Cedar and Bark, clients can be assured they will work with a seasoned pet photographer with over 20 years of dog handling experience and an expert at reading canine body language. Deborah believes that pets, especially dogs, require an experienced pet photographer to work with them to make the session enjoyable and capture great portraits. An inexperienced photographer may not recognize the signs of stress or, worse, may cause stress for the pet.

Deborah takes a one-on-one approach with clients, starting with a consultation to design a customized and unique package that will stand out from the rest. She believes the images created are an investment, and the memories and pictures chosen will be cherished long after the beloved companion is gone.

CREATIVE DISPLAY & DECOR

Cedar and Bark Photography offers three ways to display your art: wall art, gallery collections, and fine art prints. The Wall Art options include framed gallery-wrapped canvas, modern metal, and acrylic pieces, while Gallery Collections are available in any of the wall art style options. Fine Art Prints include archival-mounted prints and acrylic blocks.

She also guarantees 100% satisfaction to her clients.

IN HER WORDS

I’m a dog mom myself. The sweet dog you see in the photo below is Kona, and she’s the reason I started Cedar & Bark. After a career in dental administration, I decided to pursue my long-term dream of becoming an entrepreneur when Kona developed glaucoma at age eight. Suddenly, Kona needed a lot of help navigating day-to-day life, and I couldn’t stomach the idea of leaving her for hours every day.

“So, I decided to create a business where I could work from home. Pet photography combined my love for photography and my obvious love for animals — it felt like a perfect match. I got my accreditation from the Professional Photographers of Canada and found mentors to help hone my skills and build my business. And though Kona has since passed away, today I couldn’t be happier running Cedar & Bark full-time.

Currently, I have two yellow labs, Makena and Pearl. Makena was the easiest puppy I’ve ever raised, making me completely go back on my vow to never adopt a puppy again! Pearl is a retired breeding dog, coming to us after delivering five litters of pups! Both are incredibly sweet and contented labs.

“I feel so strongly that I’m on the right path. Pets have seen my clients through their most joyful and painful moments – moving into first homes, tagging along on adventures, comforting through grief, healing through sickness. As a pet photographer, I get to help immortalize the memories of your fur babies in art pieces that you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.

“For my business, I believe in working with clients who see their pets as a top priority. These are not just animals to them; they are family. They know their dog’s personality well and enjoy the quirks that make them interesting.”

IN THE BEST HANDS

Understanding your pet’s personality is crucial to creating a unique and personalized photography experience. Whether it is a romp in the dog park, hanging at the beach, or coming into the studio, working with Deborah allows your fur baby’s personality to shine. Every session starts with a consultation to help you get the most out of it, and the discussion revolves around your vision, pet, expectations for the photographs, and any ideas you might have.
