As winter approaches, we find ourselves drawn to its quiet sophistication and reflective beauty—a season where time slows, and the finer details of life come into focus. Issue #28 embodies this spirit, celebrating the art of living well through curated stories and experiences that inspire elegant wonder. From dazzling destinations to exclusive events, this edition invites you to embrace the season with a refined appreciation for comfort, culture, and connection.
In this issue, we journey to Antigua for the groundbreaking of a new Nikki Beach luxury resort, set to debut in 2028. Here, we delve into the vision of Canadian billionaire Calvin Ayre, whose philanthropic work is reshaping the future of this Caribbean paradise. Closer to home, fashion designer Christopher Bates expands to the global stage, with plans to launch his Milano boutique in spring and expand to other major cities.
We also explored Seattle, indulging in a quintessential weekend of markets, coffee culture, and culinary delights, with the city’s iconic Westin Seattle as our base.
In Vancouver, Maestro Ken Hsieh and the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra (VMO) showcased 17-year-old pianist Ryan Wang, a prodigy whose brilliance is matched only by his precocious passion. Events like the VSO’s Gene Kelly: A Life in Music, the Muse Collection launch at Maison Birks, and a private CHANEL high jewellery presentation continue to spotlight the city’s vibrancy, creativity, and elegance.
In CELEBRATE, we had the privilege of covering Ashley Su and Jack Wu’s Signing Ceremony. This intimate and meticulously curated event, designed by Paradise Events Inc., was held at the historic Vancouver Club. Adorned with striking blue delphiniums inspired by Dior, the occasion was a masterclass in sophistication, blending tradition with contemporary design.
Celebrating the artistry of the West Coast, we feature Lori Goldberg’s New Poetics of the Discarded, a semi-abstract homage to the lushness of our forests—a poignant reminder of our region’s natural splendour. From our dining experience at Five Sails with Chef Alex Kim‘s plant-based tasting menu to experiencing the understated luxury of the Lucid Air Sapphire, every moment in this issue reflects our dedication to celebrating life’s finest offerings.
As we close another remarkable year, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, our readers, for your unwavering support throughout 2024. Together, we have highlighted the unparalleled beauty, culture, and talent that define the West Coast.
As we go into 2025 with renewed zeal, we are committed to continuing our journey, shining a light on the extraordinary people and places that make this region so unique.
All my best,
