How the Journey Began
Tanner’s journey in wedding videography began when he was young. He was enthusiastic but just beginning to understand the full scope of his craft. He would listen to his Sony Walkman, envisioning how songs would play out in music videos and imagining how perfectly they would fit a wedding day.
Tanner shares, “I started in high school, taking classes like acting and a small film course where we learned to act, film, and edit our short films. Later, I enrolled in a Sports Management program in college, but ultimately, I decided to change courses and pursue my passion for videography. I took my camera everywhere, experimenting with new ideas, and I quickly realized not only was I good at this, but it was exactly what I wanted to do with my life. At 21, I co-founded my first video business, Gen Y Productions, and then a few years later, I went solo and launched Tanner Biggan Productions.”
While initially believing he had a handle on the industry, Tanner quickly learned that capturing beautiful moments was only part of the story. Over the years, he discovered that mastering the creative and business sides—learning to make connections, understanding the logistics, and appreciating different approaches—was essential.
For Tanner, there was not a single pivotal moment that defined his journey—it was a series of impactful experiences along the way. Early milestones included reaching a significant number of wedding bookings in a single year and creating a documentary for a local band. Soon after, he received requests to photograph top music artists, including Shawn Desman and American Idol’s Cameron Whitcomb. Even now, Tanner continues to experience moments reaffirming his path, each reminding him that he is precisely where he needs to be on this journey.
In 2024, Tanner is respected as a videographer and a BC-based professional who values every lesson from his peers, regardless of the size of their businesses. His dedication to learning, asking questions, and continuously evolving has propelled him from his early days of posting online to becoming a skilled wedding videographer producing high-quality cinematic films. Tanner’s evolution reflects his commitment to excellence and desire to create wedding films that capture every special moment with the artistry and care they deserve.

Additionally, building connections with vendors and industry professionals was crucial to building Tanner’s career. He recognized the importance of networking early on and joined VIWIA; he initially felt he needed a more robust portfolio to showcase his abilities. Once his work began to speak for itself, recommendations started flowing, and word of mouth became his most powerful form of marketing. He has always believed personal referrals are invaluable, and his commitment to quality and community has only strengthened those connections.
“In my spare time, I love keeping active—whether it’s playing hockey, golfing, hitting the gym, or even escaping to places like Hawaii or Disneyland. I also enjoy creating YouTube videos as a creative outlet. But one of the most meaningful things I’ve been part of is volunteering with the Help fill A Dream Foundation and Super Heroes of Victoria. Together, we created a calendar featuring incredible kids, each true fighters. We dressed them in superhero costumes that represented their daily battles, and we captured their strength and spirit in beautiful, professional photos.”
“Each child had their month in the calendar, and at a special reveal event, they saw their photos and received a giant, framed portrait of themselves as the hero they truly are. I also had the honour of sharing a video I created for them at the event. It was always an incredibly moving experience—seeing the joy and pride in their faces made it all worth it. Being part of something so special has been a highlight for me, and I hope to continue giving back in a way that makes a difference.”
