Imagine stepping into the legendary Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence, a space that radiates reverence for wine, where bottles are more than mere vessels—they are stories, legacies, and expressions of passion. It was here, in 2010, that the Florentine luxury brand Stefano Ricci debuted its foray into the world of fine wines. For those who cherish both extraordinary craftsmanship and exquisite vintages, Stefano Ricci‘s wine collection is not simply a side project—it is a testament to the brand’s relentless pursuit of perfection.

As a wine lover, you might wonder what drives a designer known for impeccable tailoring and opulent accessories to craft wines. The answer lies in Ricci’s innate ability to transcend boundaries. Every aspect of his world is shaped by his visionary spirit. Whether designing silk ties or reimagining wine, he is guided by a philosophy of quality, elegance, and timeless beauty. His passion for detail and deep appreciation for artistry are palpable in his wines, which have become an extension of his creative identity.

“The idea was born from a discussion between our father, Stefano, and Giorgio Pinchiorri, owner of the famous Enoteca in Florence, with three Michelin stars for over 30 years,” says Filippo Ricci. “We wanted to select an exclusive cuvée and design a prestigious bottle to enter into this world. The success we encountered encouraged us to move forward with products of absolute Italian excellence.”

A SYMPHONY OF DESIGN

Stefano Ricci’s wine journey started with the creation of SR Wine, a collaboration with Tenuta Sette Ponti, one of Tuscany’s most celebrated vineyards. The inaugural release was a limited run of 750 bottles of Merlot, a wine as refined and exclusive as Ricci’s couture creations. Over time, the collection expanded to include Sangiovese and international varietals, all housed in bottles that are as much works of art as the wines themselves.

Each wine tells a story, not only through its terroir but also through its presentation. From the iconic SR eagle logo to the intricate paisley patterns and luxurious accents on the packaging, no detail is overlooked. The interplay of gold, platinum, and deep black on the labels evokes a sense of grandeur that resonates with Ricci’s larger brand ethos.

“We try to fulfil the Stefano Ricci Man’s desires 360 degrees,” Niccolò Ricci explains. “In much of the world, wine, the fruit of the vine and man’s work, is an important element both for the pleasure of healthy and conscious drinking and for socializing.”

The wines themselves are crafted with a meticulous focus on quality. Grapes sourced from Tuscany’s Chianti region are nurtured in soils rich with marl, limestone, clay, and sand, creating a perfect balance for expressive reds. For white wine lovers, Ricci ventured to Sicily, bringing forth a vibrant Grillo, while his Champagne Grand Cuvée Réserve emerges from a boutique vineyard in France.

A COLLECTOR’S DREAM

As a wine enthusiast, it is impossible not to be captivated by the journey Ricci’s wines offer. The collection boasts an impressive lineup: from the opulent 2010 Gold Magnum and the 2012 Fine Paisley Magnum to the regal Royal Eagle series, featuring blends of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Each vintage is released in limited quantities, with formats ranging from the elegant Bordolese to the majestic Mathusalem.

“Every year, we introduce a new proposal to the market, recently thanks to a consolidated collaboration with the Moretti properties between Tuscany and Sicily,” shares Filippo Ricci. “We have also presented a Gin and Vodka, both organic and linked to our territory, always with a stable view of growth.”

In 2021, Ricci unveiled Luxor, a single-varietal Merlot, embodying the pinnacle of his vision. Like the man himself, this wine is bold, sophisticated, and unforgettable.

MORE THAN WINE

To savour a bottle of Stefano Ricci wine is to embrace a lifestyle rooted in artistry and tradition. The wines are not just beverages; they are experiences that pair seamlessly with life’s most indulgent moments. Whether enjoyed from a Tuscan Leaf crystal decanter or poured into a hand-ground glass, each sip reflects the perfect marriage of form and flavour.

For those who seek the extraordinary, Stefano Ricci’s wines are an invitation to explore a world where craftsmanship, culture, and connoisseurship converge. They are a reminder that, like great wines, the finest things in life are worth waiting for—and savouring.
