THE VISIONARY BEHIND OUMA
“The knowledge that something as simple as fabric, thread, and scissors could impact culture, create movements, and leave an imprint on someone’s life set me on my lifelong path,” explained Ou Ma, founder and lead designer.
She has always embraced the tactile and artistic. Raised in Beijing, Ou discovered a passion for illustration and painting at an early age. Her artistic journey led her to explore new dimensions of expression, shifting from the canvas to couture, where movement, fabric, and emotion converge.
Ou’s dedication to design took her from Beijing to New York City, where she graduated summa cum laude from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). As a graduate, she honed her skills with the renowned Calvin Klein Made-to-Measure Atelier before joining the prestigious Ralph Lauren Women’s Collection team.

Ou’s aesthetic is a reflection of her cultural experiences and global influences. With a keen sense of empathy and artistry, she seeks to help women discover their confidence, using couture as a means to bring their inner essence to life. Through her avant-garde approach, she redefines romance, transforming traditional bridalwear into a canvas of self-expression.
“At the heart of my business today is intention—in design, craftsmanship, and experience. OUMA Bridal is for the modern, artistic bride who values individuality and effortless elegance. Every gown is thoughtfully designed in Vancouver with sustainability in mind, offering a balance of contemporary romance and timeless wearability. Unlike mass-market bridal brands, OUMA is personal. Each dress is made-to-order, ensuring a unique connection between the bride and her gown.”

THE OUMA BRIDE
More than a bride, she is a storyteller, a dreamer, and a woman of quiet strength. The OUMA bride seeks a gown that resonates with her individuality, a piece that encapsulates her journey. Unapologetically herself, she is romantic, empowered, and effortlessly elegant.
For her, a wedding dress is not just a garment but a timeless keepsake. She values designs that merge classic elements with modern sensibilities, ensuring that her gown remains as meaningful decades from now as it is in the present moment. She embraces subtlety, finding beauty in intricate details and refined silhouettes. Her style is not loud but profoundly expressive, a reflection of her grace and authenticity.

SUSTAINABILITY x INNOVATION
At OUMA, sustainability is woven into the very fabric of every creation. The atelier’s zero-waste philosophy ensures that every material serves a purpose, crafting exquisite details from remnants and repurposed fabrics. Leftover fabric is transformed into delicate three-dimensional floral embellishments, gracing pieces like the Ivy cape and veils such as Agnes and Rhea.
These intricate flowers add texture, depth, and an unmistakable touch of artistry. Fabric remnants are also reimagined into elegant short veils, offering brides a sustainable yet stylish accessory. Each upcycled veil is a testament to OUMA’s belief that every thread holds value.
OUMA is dedicated to redefining elegance with sustainability at its core. By continuously innovating and seeking new ways to minimize waste, the brand empowers brides to make choices that are not only beautiful but also conscious.

WHY MADE-TO-ORDER MATTERS
The fashion industry generates immense waste, with mass production often leading to overstock and discarded inventory. OUMA Bridal challenges this norm by embracing a made-to-order model, creating each piece only when an order is placed. This approach minimizes waste, reduces the environmental footprint, and ensures that every gown is crafted with the utmost attention to quality and fit. Made-to-order garments are not just custom-sized; they are custom-experienced, reflecting a wearer’s unique vision and preferences.
Supporting made-to-order means championing independent designers who pour their passion into each creation. OUMA Bridal maintains a close relationship with its clientele, crafting designs that carry personal significance. Every gown tells a story, and every stitch is a celebration of individual beauty.

Brides can explore four made-to-order collections online: Radiant Reverie, Traversal, L’envie, and Signature. Additionally, the brand offers accessories, evening wear, the East Meets West collection, and an exclusive sample sale.
OUMA Bridal is more than a label; it is a movement that celebrates the fusion of artistry, sustainability, and individuality. Every creation is an invitation to embrace elegance, express identity, and step into a future where fashion is as meaningful as it is beautiful.
