The third annual Vancouver Cocktail Week has wrapped with the Green Garden Gala. This destination event honours the vibrant culture of food and drink in a city that has become a hub of cocktail creativity, with its multi-award-winning bartenders serving as ambassadors for all that makes this such an exciting culinary community. VCW provides a platform for these talented bartenders to showcase their craft and delight consumers with delicious concoctions.
Presented by The Alchemist Magazine, VCW 2024 was an eight-day event designed to cater to the industry, consumers, visitors, and media alike. The closing event of this week-long extravaganza is the Green Garden Gala, a glamorous affair that delivered on its promise to be a night of boozy flower power at one of downtown’s most respected watering holes. The Sutton Place ballroom was transformed into a bower of botanical inspiration as bartenders used plant-based flavours to craft unique cocktails. Additionally, there was a DJ, live music to dance to and more than 35 premium spirits brands to sip and savour. This event supported the BC Hospitality Foundation.
This year, the Folio.YVR Ambassadors were excited to participate and attended the following events that showcased the behind-the-scenes of distilling.
Tour & Cocktails with The Liberty Distillery Founder / Monday, March 4

Started the week with a tour and cocktail tasting at The Liberty Distillery with the founder, Lisa Simpson, who took us on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Liberty. We learned about the equipment, stills, and distillation process and had the opportunity to taste the award-winning handcrafted Whiskey, Gin, and Vodka.
The Resurrection of Rye: Distillery Tour & Cocktail Tasting with Resurrection Spirits / Wednesday, March 6

Resurrection Spirits is reclaiming the tradition of small distillers that produced grain-based rye spirits that became famous across North America and the world. Using 100% BC Rye Grain, they handcraft rye whiskey, gin, and vodka. Ambassador Douglas J. Scammell joined the Resurrection Spirits team for a distillery tour and learn about the production process, followed by sampling three seasonal cocktails at the tasting lounge.
All in all, Vancouver Cocktail Week delivered on its promise to be an exciting journey for cocktail lovers, foodies, and those who seek a unique and unforgettable experience. Attendees were treated to a wide range of cocktail creations, from classic concoctions to innovative and experimental blends. The event also featured delicious food pairings, live music, and interactive workshops, making it a truly immersive and celebratory atmosphere. As the festivities reached their peak, participants captured the triumphant diner en blanc vancouver photos to commemorate the memorable occasion.
