FROM DANCE TO MEDIA

Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Tanya’s first passion was the arts. She began dancing at the age of four and soon became a force to be reckoned with in the competitive dance world, even earning the title of Petite Miss Dance of Canada. Despite her childhood dream of becoming an “In Living Color” Fly Girl, it was her love for storytelling that ultimately led her to broadcast journalism.

After completing her journalism degree at Toronto Metropolitan University, Tanya entered the media scene, quickly making a name for herself as a fresh voice in entertainment. Over the years, she co-anchored CTV’s ETALK and hosted Entertainment City, where she had the privilege of interviewing Hollywood’s biggest stars (David Bowie, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Beyoncé), covering red carpets (Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Cannes Film Festival), and reporting on global events (Kate’s Royal Wedding, 2010 Olympic Winter Games). Tanya’s charisma and grace captured the attention of millions, earning her a place as one of Canada’s most beloved media personalities.

A LIFE-ALTERING SETBACK

In 2014, Tanya faced an unexpected and difficult setback when she was let go from CTV’s Etalk. Years later in 2019, she would experience yet another layoff, this time from Entertainment City (CityTV). Although these moments in her career were deeply painful, they marked a turning point that redefined her purpose.

Tanya reflects, “That horrible day back in 2014 (Etalk) is forever etched in my memory, but as I write this today, I am grateful it happened. It forced me to see that life is full of possibilities and opportunities if you are open to them.” This personal and professional shift sparked a journey toward self-discovery and a renewed passion for wellness and empowerment. Tanya’s experiences taught her that true happiness comes from embracing vulnerability and taking chances. Her path moved from the world of media to the world of wellness, where she began to focus on helping others live their best lives.

THE POWER OF AUTHENTICITY

As Tanya continued her journey, she became more committed to empowering others through self-love and mindfulness. A mindset and self-love coach, Tanya inspires individuals to embrace their fullest potential by practicing kindness toward themselves and others. She shares, “Authenticity is key. Whether you are in front of a camera or just living your daily life, being your true self will help you connect with others and keep your heart happy.”

Her approach to wellness is holistic, embracing both the physical and
emotional aspects of health. Tanya prioritizes movement, whether it is through Reformer Pilates, boxing classes, or strength training, but she also knows the importance of recovery. “Movement is medicine to me,” she says. Her love for contrast therapy (alternating between hot saunas and ice baths) not only helps her body recover but also boosts her mental clarity.

A LOVE FOR DOGS

Tanya’s heart extends beyond herself and her career; it is also deeply committed to animal welfare. As an advocate for bully breeds and an Ambassador for the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA), she uses her platform to spread awareness about the importance of compassion toward animals. Her Emotional Support Animal, Miss Frankie, is a cherished companion who brings joy and comfort to Tanya’s life. Her commitment to community is reflected in her volunteer and ambassador work with organizations like the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and OSPCA, which aim to support people in need and give dogs a second chance at a life they deserve, respectively.

WELLNESS & MINDFULNESS

In addition to her work with animals, Tanya’s journey has been deeply tied to mental and emotional well-being. Meditation is a daily ritual that helps her stay grounded, and she often seeks solace in nature with Miss Frankie. Tanya cherishes her quiet time, whether she is curled up with a book or enjoying a true-crime documentary. These moments of peace and self-reflection help her maintain the balance she so values.

As a coach, Tanya encourages others to embrace mindfulness practices and prioritize their health and happiness. Her approach emphasizes a deep connection to oneself, both mentally and physically. Tanya believes that self-care is about more than just pampering; it is about fostering a healthy relationship with your body and mind, one that nurtures growth and healing.

GIVING BACK

Tanya’s heart for service extends beyond her advocacy for animals. She actively supports various charitable causes, including the Unite For Change Canada “Performing Arts In The Spotlight Fund,” which helps keep the arts thriving, and Humane Society International Canada, an organization dedicated to animal protection. Giving back is a core value for Tanya, and she continually looks for ways to make a positive impact in her community. Her partnerships with brands like Adidas, Monogram Canada, Samsung Canada, Dermalogica, and SkinCeuticals reflect her diverse interests and her influence in both the wellness and lifestyle industries. Tanya is not just a media personality; she is a trusted ambassador for brands that align with her values of authenticity and wellness.

Looking ahead, Tanya is excited about the future and the endless possibilities that await. She envisions combining her love for storytelling and wellness to create a show that empowers others to live healthier, happier lives. Whether through digital platforms or broadcast TV, Tanya plans to continue sharing her journey and spreading positivity. Another dream of hers is to establish
a wellness hub—an oasis for the body, mind, and soul. Tanya imagines a space where people can come to relax, heal,
and grow.

A beachfront property outside of Canada is also on her radar, where she and her pup(s) can enjoy the serenity of nature and live in harmony with the environment. As a self-proclaimed romantic, Tanya also looks forward to meeting someone who shares her heart-driven approach to life. “Live in the energy of ‘YES!’—because we are all worthy of the beautiful lives we dream of creating,” she says.
